A trip to Muallianpui.
On the early July we took a trip to Muallianpui to visit my uncle who is suffering from nerve disease, his condition is not improving, rather it is becoming more severe. Before I begin, let me give a brief outline of Muallianpui. It is a small village, where my father was born, situated in remote areas. It is about 80 km away from my hometown Hnahthial.
Our jouney began on July 4,2020, once we had decided to visit my uncle, we started to pack our clothes and other important stuffs, then we began to travel in our little car.
I was very happy and excited because it has been the first trip outside my hometown since lockdown was enforced. On our way, I was expecting to enjoy beautiful nature, a gentle breeze, birds chirping and a pleasant journey, but things did not happen as expected. My unwanted old friend began to appear right from my head, then saliva started accumulating, dizzinesss followed and eventually I started to puke along the way and it happened every now and then. Ugh! I hate carsickness. It has ruined my travelling life too much. I have missed to visit so many beautiful places and sites like Rihdil, Phawngpui and even outside Mizoram.
Anyway it is all well and good. The day began to wear away and finally we managed to arrived at our destination, I thank God for guiding us all through the journey.
When we entered my uncle's house, there was nothing special, I saw him lying on his sickbed, he welcomed us by slowly blinking his eyes because he could not move himself, even his arm as his spine got damaged. I could not look at him for long, it just hurt me seeing his pale face.
The night passed calmly and a new day began. Weather was pleasant and I realized that it was such a blessing to be able to breathe fresh air. From time to time, we were visited by random relatives as we are guest, it is one of manners and etiquettes in Mizo society to welcome guests.
The day turned into night, we spent the night by listening my father telling us about their childhood experiences between him and his elder brother. It was a cosy night and I felt grateful to know their past life.
The night turned into a new day, and it was time to leave the house, we got ourselves ready to return home, just before we left, I consoled my uncle that he would be fine soon and encouraged him to stay strong. So we departed from the village and safely reached our home.
And those were my experience of a trip to Muallianpui. Even if there is nothing much to say, I love the experience and appreciate it.
