How to be articulate

I recently stumbled upon a video on YouTube, about "how to be articulate" by Jordan Peterson. As we know, Mr. Peterson uses advanced English, so I did not fully comprehend what he said. However, I was still able to take away valuable insights from his speech. So, I am trying to recall and jot down my takeaways from his speech.

To be more articulate, 1. We need to pay close attention/feel what we say. For me, I wholeheartedly agree with this notion. From my experience so far, when I interacted with others, I lost my composure, and developed a sense of urgency, which eventually led to not focusing on what I said but caring too much about others' opinions. So, from now on, I should try to focus on my thoughts and my words, regardless of my surroundings, whether they are going to give me bad impressions or not. In this kind of situation the best thing I could do for myself and others is to focus on what I say. Moreover, oftentimes, we avoid talking because of fear, and this is not good. As Peterson also said in another video that he was way more afraid of having controlled his tongue by others than he was of the consequences of saying what he had to say. So, the next time I talk, I will focus on my words. Even if I need to pause in the middle of talking, I will pause. I will dare to risk appearing awkward. Getting dislikes because of being genuine is better than getting likes because of being fake.

2. We should practice merely saying what we believe to be true. This is very important not only for becoming more articulate but also for developing our personality. Because when we are too afraid to speak out what we think is right because of caring about others' opinions, we lose control of our tongues and start to say what people want to hear, which is not necessarily in line with our thoughts. By doing so, we lose our true selves, and we also become less attractive. So I don't want to be this type of person anymore.
