Adversity - intrinsic to human life.
Have you ever asked yourself about why do several calamities continually happen in today's world. No wonder it is already prophesied in the Bible. However, some incidents are avoidable.
Recently, on Thursday 6:05 pm, a huge explosion blowing in from a port warehouse rocked Beirut the capital city of Lebanon. From the report, at least 300 people died, more than 5000 were injured. The injury and death toll are likely to soar. Though the basic factor of the incident is unknown, it is obvious that improper storage of 2700 tonnes of ammonium nitrate in the warehouse stirred up a decisive mushroom shaped explosion generating 3.3 magnitude shockwave which can be felt from 250 km away from the explosion center, which means almost half of Mizoram area will feel trembling of the ground caused by the shockwave. 3.3 magnitude is considered as a minor earthquake which can cause things from falling.
The question is, how can certain amount of ammonium nitrate cause such a huge explosion? Let's take a glimpse of the nature of ammonium nitrate. It is a chemical compound NH4NO3, which is popularly used in agriculture as a fertilizer as well as a component of explosive mixtures in the fields of mining, quarrying and construction.
Humanity blooms amid turmoil - Beirut government has significantly been allocating and providing compensation for the victims. Besides this, varied voices and generous action from different countries have also been witnessed like USA, China, India etc. offering sympathies for Beirut. India has also planned to extend assistance base on a result of assessment of damage from Lebanon.
Our hearts go out to the victims and their family. Let's do what we can by offering a prayer. Because of the sin of man, the world itself is sorrowful and transient and so are we. Jesus Christ is our living hope and let's remember to never stop clinging to him.
God bless you 🙏
