Before you point out one's faults or weaknesses.
1. Examine your heart, your intention. Is your heart fresh/pure? Is it fresh enough before the Lord.
During the time of Jesus Christ on Earth, there were people who pointed out the speck in others’ eyes while they themselves had a big log in their own eyes. Although they might have seemed genuine or pure in their desire to help the other person, the truth was otherwise. Their true motive was likely to condemn the person in front of others.
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:3, NIV).
2. Even if my motive is acceptable and pure, my words should be wise and seasoned with salt before the Lord.
Colossians 4:6 "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."
3. During the very moment I am uttering my words, I must look at Jesus Christ, I must hold on to Jesus Christ because I could be vulnerable and overtaken by evil.
"Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh." (Romans: 13:13-14)
